AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon form joint venture to expand US coverage and cut dead zones
VZ•AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon formed a joint venture to expand coverage in underserved US areas using pooled spectrum. Paul Roth was named interim CEO as the partners search for a permanent chief executive.
1. Expanding coverage
The venture aims to improve direct-to-device satellite connectivity, emergency resilience and network performance, while developing common technical specifications and device compatibility. Existing carrier-satellite agreements will remain in place, and the partners can pursue separate connectivity initiatives outside the venture.
