AT&T Plans 54-Acre Plano Campus to House 6,000 Employees by 2028
AT&T will relocate its Dallas headquarters to a new 54-acre Plano campus by H2 2028, consolidating about 6,000 employees from its downtown high-rise. The company plans to demolish the former EDS site and build a modern low-rise campus near Legacy West to centralize operations and enhance workspace collaboration.
1. Dividend Stability and Accelerated Buybacks
AT&T continues to offer one of the most dependable yields in the telecommunications sector, underpinned by stable free cash flow that covered 95% of dividend payouts over the past four quarters. While dividend growth has paused, management has directed excess capital toward a disciplined share repurchase program, executing $1.5 billion of buybacks in Q3 and reaffirming a plan to repurchase up to $20 billion of stock by the end of 2027. This shift in capital allocation has enhanced per-share metrics and may support valuation multiples, even as dividend discount models suggest a fair value range between $16 and $33 per share, based on varying growth and return assumptions.
2. Strategic Headquarters Relocation to Plano
In a move designed to modernize its corporate infrastructure and improve employee experience, AT&T announced it will relocate its Dallas headquarters to a newly built campus in Plano by the second half of 2028. The project involves the redevelopment of a 54-acre former Electronic Data Systems site near Legacy West, consolidating roughly 6,000 employees from three existing locations into a low-rise campus with collaborative workspaces. CEO John Stankey highlighted feedback from internal engagement surveys that called for enhanced facilities and noted that the suburban location better aligns with where a majority of its workforce resides, while retaining a downtown presence for key corporate functions.
