Total net capital inflows were $199.8 billion in August, including $178.5 billion in private flows and $21.3 billion in official flows. Foreign investors made net purchases of $279.2 billion in long-term securities, including $108.9 billion in Treasuries and $153.9 billion in equities.
Japan held $1,068.3 billion in Treasuries, the largest amount among the listed foreign holders. The United Kingdom held $1,009.5 billion and China, Mainland held $590.7 billion.
