Australia's ACCC said Zoetis' acquisition of Neogen Genomics requires phase 2 review.
It said it is also considering the competitive significance of Zoetis obtaining access to an increased volume of genetic data on cattle in Australia under the deal.
The regulator said it has not reached a conclusion on the issues and will continue to consider the acquisition of Neogen in phase 2.
It invited submissions in response to its phase 2 notice by 31 July on Zoetis' acquisition of Neogen.
