Autoliv and Yamaha Motor have co-developed an innovative airbag system for the Tricity 300 commuter scooter, integrating a front-collision module that preserves balance and storage. The updated Tricity 300, featuring Autoliv’s validated airbag module, will launch in the first half of 2026 and extends Autoliv’s safety portfolio beyond motorcycles.

1. Collaboration With Yamaha Motor

Autoliv, the global leader in automotive safety systems, partnered with Yamaha Motor to co-develop a deployable airbag for the Tricity 300 commuter scooter. This marks Autoliv’s first foray into mass-market scooter safety, expanding its product reach beyond traditional high-end motorcycle applications.

2. Product Design and Testing

The airbag module is seamlessly integrated into the scooter’s front panel, engineered to absorb rider kinetic energy in frontal collisions while maintaining vehicle balance and storage capacity. It underwent advanced simulations and full-scale crash testing to meet rigorous development standards and ensure high reliability.

3. Market Launch and Strategic Impact

The updated Tricity 300 model with Autoliv’s airbag module is scheduled for release in the first half of 2026. This launch supports Autoliv’s long-term agenda to diversify beyond its core automotive business and capture new segments in two-wheeler safety solutions.
