Avista says 2,900 customers remain without power as wildfires damage equipment

Avista crews continued wildfire-related restoration work as fire-damaged electric equipment kept 2,900 customers without power on Aug. 4.
Outages fell from 3,800 a day earlier as access improved in some areas, with evacuation zones still blocking repairs elsewhere.
Roughly 5,000 natural gas customers in the Spokane area remained without service due to damage, access restrictions, safety constraints.
Damage assessments reached 82%, covering more than 4,500 inspections; relights depend on lifting Level 3 evacuation orders.
