Amazon AWS Growth Trails at 4% as Vanguard Adds Alexa Proxy Voting

AMZNAMZN

Amazon Web Services saw quarter-over-quarter growth acceleration of 4%, trailing Google Cloud’s 15-point jump and raising margin concerns. Vanguard integrated voice-activated proxy voting through Alexa for over $3 trillion AUM, expanding to $6 trillion by next year and opening new engagement for Alexa devices.

1. AWS Growth Underperformance

Amazon Web Services achieved a 4% quarter-over-quarter revenue growth acceleration in the March quarter, significantly lagging Google Cloud’s 15-point increase to 63% and Microsoft Azure’s 1-point rise. The slower AWS momentum raises questions about competitive positioning and potential margin pressure as peers gain share in the AI cloud market.

2. Vanguard Alexa Proxy Voting Integration

Vanguard has embedded Amazon Alexa voice commands into its investor choice proxy voting program, allowing shareholders controlling over $3 trillion of U.S. equity index assets to register and vote via Alexa. The rollout will extend to more than $6 trillion in assets by the end of next year, opening a new engagement channel for Alexa services.

3. Robotics Competition Signals Sector Stakes

In March, Amazon acquired Fauna Robotics, founded by ARI co-founder Lerrel Pinto, marking its entry into advanced robotics. Meta’s recent purchase of Assured Robot Intelligence and market forecasts of a $38 billion humanoid robotics industry by 2035 (up to $5 trillion by 2050) highlight escalating investment demands in physical AI.
