Azimut Yachts partners with Ferrari Hypersail as official yachting partner
RACE•Azimut-Benetti entered a technical partnership with Ferrari Hypersail, making Azimut the project’s official yachting partner. Azimut will provide a modified Fly 72 tow boat with 4,000 horsepower, about 30-knot towing targets and a six-ton weight reduction.
1. Partnership and testing
Azimut-Benetti entered a technical partnership with Ferrari on the Hypersail offshore ocean-racing project, with the program’s operational base at Azimut’s Livorno shipyard. Azimut will supply a custom Fly 72 tow boat for prototype flight testing and later campaigns; early trials target towing the prototype at about 30 knots without a mast or sails.
2. Modified tow boat
The Fly 72 will be modified to integrate 4,000 horsepower, doubling its power, and cut six tons of weight using carbon fiber.
