Baker Hughes Secures Orders for 6 MTPA LNG Expansion and Turbine Upgrades
BKR•Baker Hughes booked orders to supply seven PGT25+ G4 turbines, 15 compressors and a boil-off re-liquefaction unit for Train 7, adding over 6 MTPA of LNG capacity at Sabine Pass. It also won a four-year deal to upgrade all PGT25+ G4 turbines, boosting power output across 30 MTPA capacity.
1. Equipment Awards for Train 7 Expansion
Baker Hughes booked equipment orders in the second quarter to supply primary liquefaction gear for Phase 1 of the Sabine Pass expansion. The package includes seven PGT25+ G4 gas turbines driving 15 centrifugal compressors and a boil-off re-liquefaction unit, supporting an additional 6 MTPA of LNG output.
2. Fleet-wide Turbine Upgrades
The company secured a four-year contract to upgrade all PGT25+ G4 aeroderivative turbines at the Sabine Pass facility. These upgrades will increase power output and efficiency across the terminal’s existing 30 MTPA capacity, enhancing overall reliability and performance.
3. Capacity Growth Impact
Combined equipment orders and lifecycle services are expected to add more than 6 MTPA to Sabine Pass’s output. This expansion bolsters Baker Hughes’s presence in the LNG market and supports Cheniere’s goal of meeting rising global natural gas demand.
