Baker Hughes Wins QatarEnergy Deal for Mega Trains and 4.1 Mt CO2 Capture
Baker Hughes secured a major contract from QatarEnergy for North Field West, supplying six gas turbines, 12 centrifugal compressors, integrated power systems and a carbon capture facility handling 4.1 Mt of CO2 per year. This award contributes to the field’s expansion by 16 Mtpa and supports Baker Hughes’ Q1 orders of $8.2 billion.
1. Major Equipment Supply Awarded
Baker Hughes secured a contract to provide critical liquefaction equipment for two LNG mega trains on Qatar’s North Field West project, including six gas turbines, 12 centrifugal compressors and integrated power systems.
2. Carbon Capture Facility Component
The deal also covers equipment for a carbon capture and transport facility capable of handling up to 4.1 million tonnes of CO2 annually, underscoring emissions-reduction integration in new LNG infrastructure.
3. Expansion Impact and Timelines
North Field West will add approximately 16 million tonnes per year of LNG capacity, contributing to Qatar’s goal of boosting total output from 77 Mtpa to 142 Mtpa once all phases complete, with first output expected by decade’s end.
4. Q1 Order Momentum
Baker Hughes reported $8.2 billion in total orders for the first quarter of 2026, driven by strong demand for LNG and gas infrastructure projects, reflecting resilience amid regional output disruptions.
