BBVA CEO Onur Genç said the bank is adopting AI faster than peers, aiming for a hyper-personalized, conversational operating model.
Blue, the customer assistant, is being developed into a financial assistant designed to better understand and anticipate client needs.
Genç said AI’s upside extends beyond cost efficiency, citing revenue potential from personalization, advice quality, and higher commercial productivity.
He highlighted balance-sheet momentum since December 2020, with the loan book up 62% in current euros versus 13% for European peers.
Genç said first-half 2026 ROTE reached 22.2%, citing stronger profitability versus a 15% peer average and rising shareholder payouts.
