Before the bell: Europe set for subdued start as oil tops $89
SPY•Europe futures muted as oil rises
European futures pointed to a muted open on Tuesday as fading hopes for a Middle East peace deal pushed Brent prices above $89 before U.S. inflation data this week that could shape expectations for the Federal Reserve's next move.
Euro STOXX 50 .STOXX50E, DAX .GDAXI and FTSE .FTSE futures were between flat and down 0.1%, with equities in the region pausing near record highs ahead of the U.S. data, even as sentiment around the technology sector remained supported.
Technology and corporate movers in focus
A 5% surge in Samsung 005930.KS drove South Korea's Kospi higher, while Nasdaq futures added 0.2%. Bloomberg reported that Intel INTC.O plans to raise its share sale to about $20 billion from $15 billion, offering a discount of just 2.6%.
AI-related stocks in Europe looked set for modest gains at the open, with Infineon IFXGn.DE and Schneider Electric SCHN.PA up around 0.8% on Tradegate. Corporate news in the region was limited as the earnings season neared its end.
On Wall Street, cloud infrastructure company CoreWeave is due to report earnings, potentially testing investors' appetite for the AI trade.
European defence stocks were also on watch following sector notes from RBC and Barclays. Several companies, including Alcon ALCC.S and OC Oerlikon OERL.S in Zurich and German real estate firm TAG Immobilien TEGG.DE, rose in premarket trading after well-received results.
