Before the bell: Lots of companies reporting into a shaky market
SPY•European indexes were set to open lower as energy prices climbed and Wall Street fell late, while investors focused on corporate earnings. Brent rose to $111 a barrel, and Euro STOXX 50 and FTSE futures fell 1.25% and 0.55%, respectively.
1. Earnings in focus
SAP reported quarterly revenue above €10 billion for the first time and lifted its 2026 revenue outlook to the upper end of its range. Barclays reported a 12% rise in third-quarter profit and announced a $670 million buyback; LSEG and Sainsbury's also reported results, while Roche and Nestle beat third-quarter sales expectations.
2. Markets under pressure
Energy prices and a late fall on Wall Street weighed on the outlook for European indexes. Brent was back at $111 a barrel, European natural gas prices were just below this week's four-year high, and Nasdaq 100 futures were sharply lower after Tesla shares fell around 5% on Tradegate following its results.
