BETA Technologies launched flight operations in North Carolina under the FAA-U.S. DOT eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.
The campaign runs with NCDOT, Metro Aviation, ECU Health and WakeMed to test electric flights for rural medical logistics.
Work focuses on moving critical supplies and care teams between regional medical centers and community hospitals to build a scalable model.
More than 1,300 nautical miles have been flown since Sept. 17 using the ALIA CTOL aircraft, supported by a Charge Cube charger.
The plan includes developing more than 15 additional charging sites across North Carolina to support future commercial deployment.
