Beyond Meat Swaps 0% APR Debt for 7% Notes, Launches Protein Drink
Beyond Meat holds $1.2 billion in debt after swapping 0 percent APR notes for 7 percent APR notes due 2030, its market cap is $445 million and net losses reached $193 million through Q3 2025. It also launched Beyond Immerse, a limited-time plant-based protein drink in three flavors offering up to 20 grams of protein.
1. Beyond Meat Financial Struggles Deepen
Beyond Meat is under severe financial pressure, carrying $1.2 billion in debt against a market capitalization of approximately $445 million. The company has reported operating losses for every quarter of 2024 and 2025, including a $112 million operating loss in Q3 2025, and recorded a net loss of $110 million in that same quarter—worse than the $115 million loss reported in the first nine months of 2024. To avoid near-term maturities, Beyond Meat exchanged $800 million of convertible notes originally due in 2027 at 0% APR for new notes due in 2030 bearing 7% APR, and included more than 300 million shares as offered securities. Despite this extension, declining revenues across retail, foodservice and direct-to-consumer channels suggest that cash burn will continue, making bankruptcy a likely outcome within a few years without a material turnaround in sales or cost structure.
2. Beyond Immerse Protein Drink Launch
In a bid to diversify beyond plant-based meat, Beyond Meat has introduced Beyond Immerse, a functional beverage line featuring plant-based protein, fiber, antioxidants and electrolytes. Debuting in Peach Mango, Lemon Lime and Orange Tangerine flavors, each 12 fl oz serving offers either 10 g of protein, 7 g of fiber and 60 calories or 20 g of protein, 7 g of fiber and 100 calories. The drink is formulated with pea protein, tapioca fiber, vitamin C and electrolytes, contains no GMOs or sugar alcohols, and is designed to support muscle health, gut health and immune function. Beyond Immerse is available for a limited time exclusively through Beyond Test Kitchen, the company’s direct-to-consumer platform for early-access product launches.
