Biocon settles Roche's US patent lawsuit over proposed breast-cancer drug copy
Biocon settled Genentech's US patent lawsuit over its proposed Perjeta biosimilar, Pebrilzo. The settlement allows launches in the UK and European Union in the first quarter of 2027 and the United States in the third quarter of 2028.
1. Settlement sets launch dates
Biocon said the settlement gives it the “earliest licensed launch dates” for a Perjeta biosimilar, allowing it to launch Pebrilzo in the UK and European Union in the first quarter of 2027 and in the United States in the third quarter of 2028. Other terms are confidential.
2. Lawsuit dismissed
Genentech sued Biocon in New Jersey earlier this year, alleging its biosimilar would infringe Genentech's patents. The court dismissed the lawsuit on Wednesday at Genentech's request; Biocon did not respond to the allegations in court.
3. Perjeta sales
Perjeta was Roche's sixth-best-selling drug last year, generating nearly CHF 2.97 billion ($3.67 billion) in worldwide revenue.
