BioVie falls after long COVID drug fails to show benefit in overall trial

Long COVID can cause symptoms that persist after the initial COVID-19 infection, including fatigue, difficulty thinking, sleep problems and worsening symptoms after physical or mental activity.
Results on 21 measures favored the drug, but significant benefits were limited to pre-specified groups with more severe fatigue, thinking problems or worsening symptoms after activity - BIVI.
Patients in these groups accounted for about 78% of trial participants; the company said the subgroup findings were exploratory and need confirmation in a larger late-stage trial.
