BK Technologies Launches LocateONE LITE for Off-Grid ATAK Location via BKR Radios

BKTIBKTI

BK Technologies launched LocateONE LITE, a software-only addition to its LocateONE suite that uses BKR 9000 and BKR 5000 radios as gateways for real-time off-grid team location awareness via ATAK without additional hardware or training. It debuts at the 2026 International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas.

1. Launch of LocateONE LITE

BK Technologies has introduced LocateONE LITE, an extension of its LocateONE portfolio that leverages existing BKR 9000 and BKR 5000 radios as location-reporting gateways. The software provides dismounted first responders with a real-time “dot-on-a-map” view through the open-source ATAK app on agency-issued Android devices, eliminating the need for extra hardware or specialized training.

2. Key Features and Capabilities

LocateONE LITE integrates seamlessly via an Android plug-in, supports any BK Technologies radio through BKR gateway capability and offers TAK server upload functionality for an enhanced common operational picture. As a software-first solution, it delivers cost-effective situational awareness in connectivity-deprived environments, aligning with Dingell Act safety requirements for remote operations.

3. Market Impact and Expo Showcase

By tapping into the widespread civilian adoption of ATAK and patent-pending BKRplay tethering, BK Technologies aims to accelerate BKR radio sales in the public safety sector. The company will showcase LocateONE LITE at Booth #1727 during IWCE 2026 in Las Vegas, targeting wildland firefighters and other first responders seeking interoperable, low-complexity mapping tools.
