BlackBerry lifts annual revenue forecast on strength in automotive software business
BB•BlackBerry raised its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast to $616 million-$636 million from $594 million-$621 million after QNX revenue rose 27% to $80.3 million. Second-quarter revenue was $163.3 million, and a new QNX contract could add more than $100 million to its royalty backlog.
1. QNX growth lifts forecast
BlackBerry raised its full-year 2027 revenue forecast to $616 million-$636 million, up from its prior range of $594 million-$621 million. Revenue at its QNX division rose 27% to $80.3 million in the second quarter ended August 31, driven by growth in automotive and new design wins.
2. Vehicle software contracts
BlackBerry said Coretura, a joint venture between Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, selected QNX software for its next-generation commercial vehicles. The deal could add more than $100 million to QNX’s royalty backlog, and BlackBerry called it the division’s largest contract to date. CEO John Giamatteo said QNX software is being deployed in digital cockpit, advanced driver assistance and body-control applications.
3. Quarterly results and outlook
Second-quarter revenue was $163.3 million, above analysts’ $145.6 million estimate. BlackBerry expects third-quarter revenue of $143 million-$154 million, compared with estimates of $149.6 million.
