BlackBerry’s QNX division has added support for AMD’s Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors on its QNX Software Development Platform 8.0, with Ryzen AI Embedded P100 support scheduled next. This collaboration broadens OEM options for developing reliable automotive, industrial, robotics and medical imaging systems using QNX and AMD hardware.

1. Expanded Processor Support

BlackBerry’s QNX division now supports AMD’s Ryzen Embedded V2000 processors on QNX SDP 8.0, enabling developers to integrate these chips into new systems. Support for the more powerful Ryzen AI Embedded P100 processors is planned as the next phase of the collaboration.

2. Potential Industry Applications

The expanded compatibility allows manufacturers to build systems for automotive infotainment, advanced driver-assistance systems, factory automation equipment, robotics platforms and medical imaging devices using QNX and AMD processors. This gives OEMs an alternative high-performance, real-time operating environment for safety-critical and demanding workloads.

3. Strategic Implications

By integrating AMD’s embedded processors, QNX enhances its platform competitiveness against rivals and strengthens its value proposition to hardware partners. The move could drive incremental licensing revenue and deepen BlackBerry’s footprint in key industrial and automotive markets.
