Roblox falls after Bleecker Street Research discloses short position
RBLX•Roblox shares fell 2.76% to $52.87 in early trading after Bleecker Street Research disclosed a short position and criticized the company’s child-safety overhaul. The firm said it accessed 100 age-verified child accounts from five countries without being asked to verify again; the claims could not be independently verified.
1. Short position disclosed
Bleecker Street Research said it had taken a short position in Roblox and argued that the company’s child-safety overhaul, including mandatory facial age checks, brought little safety benefit while hurting new-user growth.
2. Account access claims
The firm said it bought 100 age-verified child accounts for $190.91 and logged into all of them from five countries in two hours without Roblox asking it to verify again. The claims could not be independently verified, and Roblox did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Roblox shares were down about 33% year to date through the prior close.
