Boeing Tops Airbus in 2025 with 1,173 Net Orders and 600 Deliveries
Boeing logged 1,173 net orders in 2025, outselling Airbus for the first time since 2018, and delivered 600 aircraft—the most deliveries since 2018—including 63 in December with 44 737 MAX jets. Key orders include 100+ 737 MAX jets from Alaska Airlines and 30 787-10 Dreamliners for Delta despite supply delays.
1. Record Commercial Deliveries Highlight Boeing's Recovery
In 2025 Boeing delivered 600 commercial airplanes, its highest annual total since 2018 and a 72% increase from the 348 units handed over in 2024. Fourth‐quarter deliveries reached 160 aircraft, led by 117 units of the 737 family. The strong delivery pace underscores Boeing’s ability to overcome supply‐chain constraints and deliver on customer commitments after a series of production and quality‐control challenges earlier in the decade.
2. Net Orders Outpace Airbus for First Time Since 2018
Boeing logged 1,173 net commercial orders in 2025, surpassing Airbus for the first time in seven years. Major wins included a 145‐aircraft order from Alaska Airlines—one of the largest in the company’s history—and commitments for 30 Dreamliner widebodies from Delta Air Lines, with options for an additional 30 frames. Lessors also continued to support the 737 MAX program, accounting for roughly one‐fifth of the total MAX backlog with nearly 1,300 jets on order.
3. Ramping 737 MAX Production to Meet Demand
Boeing is in the process of ramping 737 MAX output toward 84 aircraft per month, up from its current rate of around 50 per month. At the new target rate, production slots are 97% spoken for, reflecting robust demand and disciplined order book management. The transition to higher production levels will be critical for translating backlogged orders into revenue in the coming years.
4. Defense and Space Deliveries Maintain Momentum
In 2025 Boeing’s Defense, Space & Security division delivered 131 aircraft, including 19 new AH-64 Apaches, 42 remanufactured Apaches, 11 Chinooks, and a mix of F-15 and F/A-18 fighters. Tanker deliveries included 14 KC-46 units, while three MH-139 helicopters and six P-8 maritime patrol aircraft rounded out the year. These defense deliveries provide a stable revenue stream as Boeing balances commercial production challenges.
