Boeing Sees 737 MAX 7 Certification by Summer and Production Rising to 47 Jets
BA•FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford expects Boeing’s 737 MAX 7 to be certified this summer and the larger MAX 10 by year-end, following resolution of engine de-icing issues. The FAA supports increasing MAX production from 42 to 47 jets per month and Boeing plans 52 monthly early next year.
1. Certification Timelines for MAX 7 and MAX 10
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said he expects certification of the 737 MAX 7 this summer and approval of the MAX 10 by year-end, after addressing an engine anti-ice de-icing issue that delayed both jets’ certification flights.
2. Production Rate Increases
Regulators lifted the 38-plane cap and approved a production increase from 42 to 47 MAX jets per month, with Boeing targeting 52 monthly deliveries early next year following the opening of a fourth assembly line in Everett, Washington.
3. Quality Oversight and FAA Partnership
Bedford emphasized partnership with Boeing to embed quality and safety in production, citing enhanced transparency and proactive problem identification to reduce rework and support further rate hikes.
