Boston Scientific falls after profit forecast cut on slower heart-device demand
BSX•Shares fall after outlook cut
Shares of Boston Scientific BSX.N fall 1.8% to $45.37.
The medical device maker cuts its 2026 adjusted profit per share forecast to $3.28-$3.32 from $3.34-$3.41 — below analysts’ estimate of $3.36.
Quarterly earnings beat overshadowed by guidance
The outlook cut overshadows second-quarter adjusted profit per share of 86 cents — above analysts’ average estimate of 83 cents, according to data compiled by LSEG.
Including the session's move, BSX is down 53.3% year to date.
Slower Watchman demand and competition weigh on outlook
The company says growth in procedures using its Watchman heart device has slowed sharply, while stronger competition in the U.S. electrophysiology market has led to market-share losses.
CEO Michael Mahoney expects both pressure to continue into 2027 and forecasts weaker-than-expected second-half 2026 results.
