BP and ExxonMobil Co-Venturers Launch 4–6 tcf Gas Output at ACG Field
XOM•BP has commenced non-associated gas production at the ACG field offshore Azerbaijan, where recoverable volumes are estimated at 4 tcf, potentially rising to 6 tcf. Initial output from a West Chirag platform well targets Qirmaki Upper and Lower Sand reservoirs, with gas and condensate to flow via Sangachal Terminal.
1. Start of NAG Production at ACG Field
BP and its co-venturers, including ExxonMobil, have begun non-associated gas production at the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli field offshore Azerbaijan, marking the first commercial gas output nearly 30 years after oil production commenced.
2. Reservoir Targets and Recoverable Volumes
The initial NAG well drilled from the West Chirag platform taps the Qirmaki Upper Sand and high-pressure Qirmaki Lower Sand reservoirs, with confirmed gas resources estimated at around 4 tcf and upside potential to reach 6 tcf.
3. Integration with Existing Infrastructure
Produced gas and condensate will be transported via existing ACG pipelines to the Sangachal Terminal, leveraging established offshore facilities for well testing and accelerated ramp-up of gas production.
