BP proposes six-year labor contract at Whiting refinery
BP•BP proposed a six-year labor contract for workers at its 440,000-barrel-per-day Whiting refinery in Indiana as negotiations with United Steelworkers Local 7-1 continue.
1. Proposed contract terms
BP said the six-year term would provide stability and certainty in pay, benefits and working conditions. The final two years would match future National Oil Bargaining Program pattern wage-rate increases, and BP proposed a longer notice period before either side could initiate a strike or lockout.
2. Negotiations continue
BP said it would continue talks with USW Local 7-1 representatives. The company locked out Whiting refinery workers in March in a dispute over their next contract.
