Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro will face President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the presidential runoff, the electoral authority said. With just over 97% of ballots counted, Bolsonaro received 47.45% of valid votes and Lula received 44.66%; the two advanced from a field of 12 candidates.

The campaign focused on concerns about the growing cost of living, corruption and insecurity in Brazilians' daily lives. The runoff is scheduled for October 25.
