Bristol Myers' drug improves lung function in late-stage trial
BMY•Bristol Myers Squibb said its experimental drug admilparant met the main goal in a late-stage trial of 1,255 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at a 60-mg dose, but not at 120 mg. Shares rose more than 6% in premarket trading.
1. Lower dose met main goal
Bristol Myers Squibb said the 60-mg dose of admilparant, taken twice daily, showed a statistically significant benefit over placebo in preserving lung function over 52 weeks. The trial enrolled 1,255 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
2. Higher dose did not
The 120-mg dose did not show a statistically significant improvement in lung function over the same period. The company said the drug was generally well tolerated at both doses, with side-effect-related treatment discontinuations low and similar to placebo.
