Broadcom will appoint Amie Thuener as Chief Financial Officer effective June 12, 2026, following Kirsten Spears’ retirement, with Spears remaining for nine months as an advisor. The stock also slid in line with Nvidia and other chip peers as geopolitical tensions intensified a semiconductor sector sell-off.

1. CFO Transition Planned at Broadcom

Broadcom announced that Amie Thuener, currently Vice President, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Alphabet since 2018, will become Broadcom’s CFO on June 12, 2026. Incumbent CFO Kirsten Spears will retire after 12 years in the role but continue until June and then serve as an advisor for nine months to ensure a smooth handover.

2. Sector Sell-Off Impacts Shares

Broadcom shares fell alongside Nvidia and other semiconductor peers as renewed geopolitical tensions fueled concerns over supply chains and demand. Investors sold chip stocks broadly, reflecting heightened risk aversion in technology sectors sensitive to global conflicts.
