1. Fundraising and buyouts
Meta Platforms reportedly plans to raise up to $95 billion in its largest-ever equity fundraising. SpaceX said it closed a $40 billion debt round to pay for chips needed for its data centers. Microsoft reportedly offered voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, or more than a quarter of its global workforce, as it looks to contain costs and help fund its AI investment.
2. Court rulings
A US appeals court denied the Trump administration’s request to block California from counting mail ballots from more than 20,000 registered voters the federal government alleges are likely noncitizens. A judge also extended an order blocking plans to renovate a historic Washington golf course at East Potomac Park.
