U.S.-listed shares of South African miners — Gold Fields GFI.N, AngloGold Ashanti AU.N, Harmony Gold HMY.N and Sibanye Stillwater SBSW.N — declined between 2.9% and 4.3%.
Canadian miners Agnico Eagle Mines AEM.TO was down 1.3% and Kinross Gold K.TO fell 2.3%.
Gold miners track lower bullion prices
Shares of gold miners fell, tracking lower bullion prices.
Spot gold XAU= was down 1.8% at $4,058.48/ounce, having hit its highest level since July 7 on Wednesday.
Gold prices fell on Thursday as the Middle East conflict drove energy prices higher, fuelling inflation concerns and reinforcing expectations of U.S. interest-rate hikes this year.
