Buzz: Southwest Airlines shares fall on annual forecast cut

Southwest also forecast third-quarter adjusted earnings of 50 cents to 75 cents per share, below analysts' estimate of 82 cents.
Analysts expect 2026 profit of $3.17 per share, according to data compiled by LSEG.
The company said a jet fuel price shock added nearly $900 million in additional expenses in the second quarter, chipping away $1.17 of adjusted profit per share.
Southwest shares fall after forecast cut
Southwest Airlines LUV.N shares were down about 2% in extended trading after the carrier cut its annual forecast.
The Texas-based airline now forecasts annual adjusted profit between $3.25 and $4.25 per share, compared with at least $4 earlier, citing elevated fuel costs.
