BUZZ-US energy companies rise as Brent touches $100/bbl after Houthi attack on Saudi tankers

U.S.-listed shares of energy companies gained in premarket trading, tracking a rise in oil prices.
- Brent crude futures LCOc1 rose 6%, hitting $100/barrel for the first time since May 26; U.S. West Texas Intermediate CLc1 rose 5.3% to $91.5/barrel.
- Prices hit their highest in more than a month after the Houthi militia of Yemen said they struck two Saudi oil tankers, widening disruption to global oil shipping through both the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.
- Energy majors Exxon XOM.N and Chevron CVX.N gained 1.8% each.
- Oil and gas producers Occidental Petroleum OXY.N and ConocoPhillips COP.N rose 2.3% each, while APA Corp APA.O climbed 3%.
- Oilfield services companies advanced, with Baker Hughes BKR.O up 1.5%, SLB SLB.N up 1.5% and Halliburton HAL.N up 1.7%.
- Refiners were also ahead, with Marathon Petroleum MPC.N up about 2% and Phillips 66 PSX.N up 2.4%.
