Tech stocks dragged Wall Street lower on Friday after propelling the S&P 500 to a record high in the previous session, while investors digested weaker-than-expected retail sales data and monitored developments in the Middle East.

At 01:30 p.m. EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI) was down 0.20% at 53,731.31. The S&P 500 (.SPX) was down 0.25% at 7,779.76 and the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC) was down 0.47% at 26,677.94.
