At its May 20 meeting, California Water Service Group’s board unanimously approved the promotions of Tamara S. Johnson to Vice President, California Operations, and Gregory D. Shimansky to Vice President, Rates and Regulatory Affairs, with both roles effective July 1, 2026.

2. Backgrounds and Strategic Implications

Johnson, with 40 years at the company and licenses in water treatment and distribution, will lead the newly created California operations role to address growing operational complexity. Shimansky, who joined in 2024, succeeds a retiring executive and will focus on regulatory mechanisms and rate designs to balance affordability and infrastructure investment.
