Calix, Astound complete 50G-PON access solution trial

Calix and Astound completed a successful trial of Calix’s 50G-PON access solution, delivering 50 gigabits per second downstream speeds with flexible upstream speeds on a single network.

1. Trial results

The trial validated 50G-PON interoperability alongside Astound’s existing XGS-PON infrastructure using the same AXOS-based operating model. The outcome positions Astound to deploy 50G-PON more quickly to target growth in residential, business, wholesale and multi-tenant markets.
