Canada August wholesale trade down 1.6% on autos
SPY•Canadian wholesale trade fell 1.6% in August from July, as sales declined in the motor vehicle and parts subsector. Sales fell 1.8% in volume terms, while analysts had forecast a 1.5% decline.
1. August wholesale sales
Sales declined in five of seven subsectors, representing 70.6% of wholesale trade, and in six of the ten provinces. Wholesale trade excluding autos fell 1.2% month over month, while motor vehicle and parts sales decreased 3.8%.
