Canada stocks-Toronto futures little changed as investors await domestic inflation data

Aug. 17 (Reuters) - Futures tracking Canada's blue-chip stocks on Monday were muted ahead of domestic inflation data, while investors weighed the Iran war stalemate.
September futures on the S&P/TSX index SXFc1 were flat at 2,166.50 points at 6:22 a.m. ET.
- Investors are awaiting domestic consumer price index (CPI) inflation data for July, due at 8:30 a.m. ET, which could offer clues into the Bank of Canada's monetary policy path.
- Money markets widely expect the central bank to keep interest rates unchanged this year, data compiled by LSEG showed.
- On the geopolitical front, Iran called on the U.S. to accept defeat on Saturday, while President Donald Trump blasted Tehran as "very evil" and told Americans to prepare for continued high fuel prices as a result of the war.
- Brent crude futures LCOc1 inched up 1.2%, while West Texas Intermediate crude CLc1 edged up 0.9%. O/R
- Gold prices also rose, supported by a weaker dollar and fading expectations of a U.S. Federal Reserve rate hike next month. Spot gold XAU= and silver XAG= were up 0.5% and 1.4%, respectively. GOL/
- In earnings reported late on Friday, financial software company Abaxx Technologies' ABXX.TO net loss widened in the second quarter.
- Separately, gold and copper producer OceanaGold OGC.TO plans to acquire Australia's Ausgold AUC.AX in a deal valued at A$776 million ($552.74 million), the companies said on Monday.
- Canada and the U.S. are still far from reaching a draft trade deal despite regular meetings, Dominic LeBlanc, the Canadian minister responsible for trade with the U.S., told an advisory committee on Friday.
