Canada's main stock index opened at a record high on Wednesday, led by a surge in Shopify shares after the e-commerce company's revenue forecast exceeded estimates, while gains in gold prices lifted mining stocks.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX Composite index gained 1.5% at 9:30 a.m. ET.
