Canadian dollar strengthens, benchmark yield slips
TLT•The Canadian dollar rose 0.1% to C$1.4241 per U.S. dollar, while Canada’s 10-year government bond yield fell 2.7 basis points to 3.925%.
1. Currency and bond moves
The Canadian dollar strengthened against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, trading at C$1.4241, or 70.22 U.S. cents, after moving between C$1.4241 and C$1.4285. The yield on similar U.S. benchmark government debt fell to 5.273%.
2. Oil futures fall
U.S. November crude futures fell $2.29 to $87.14 a barrel on Tuesday.
