Canadian dollar weakens, benchmark yield climbs
TLT•The Canadian dollar fell 0.5% to C$1.427 per U.S. dollar, while Canada’s 10-year government bond yield rose 5.6 basis points to 3.984%.
1. Currency and bond moves
The Canadian dollar weakened against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday, trading at C$1.427 per U.S. dollar, or 70.08 U.S. cents, after ranging from 1.4207 to 1.428. The yield on Canadian 10-year government bonds rose 5.6 basis points to 3.984%; the comparable U.S. yield rose to 5.3432%.
2. Oil futures rise
U.S. November crude futures rose 65 cents to $90.09 a barrel.
