Capstone Energy+ sees AI power demand reviving distributed generation market
CEPL•Capstone Energy+ says AI-driven electricity demand is creating new opportunities for distributed generation. Citing IEA projections, it says global data center electricity consumption will roughly double from 2025 to 2030, while AI-focused consumption will triple.
1. Rising power demand
In an analysis dated October 29, 2026, Capstone Energy+ said rising electricity demand from AI is creating new opportunities for distributed generation. Citing IEA projections, it said global data center electricity consumption will roughly double between 2025 and 2030, while AI-focused consumption will triple.
2. On-site generation plans
The analysis said power availability is becoming a business constraint, increasing the strategic value of on-site generation and existing energy infrastructure. Capstone Energy+ said it is advancing higher-output gas turbines and 800 VDC architecture, and urged the industry to reinvest cash flow in next-generation energy technologies rather than solely expanding existing capacity.
