1. Carlyle’s $240M Stake in Nxtra Data

Carlyle Group invested $240 million in a $1 billion funding round for Nxtra Data, Bharti Airtel’s data centre arm, valuing the business at $3.1 billion. The round also included contributions of $435 million from Alpha Wave Global and $35 million from Anchorage Capital.

2. Nxtra’s Capacity Expansion Strategy

Nxtra currently operates about 300 MW of data centre capacity and plans to scale to 1 GW, targeting approximately 25% of India’s data centre market. The expansion will address rising demand from enterprises, hyperscalers, and government clients.

3. Robust Growth Drivers in India

India’s data centre capacity is forecast to exceed 8 GW by 2030, supported by a new 20-year tax exemption for hyperscalers and over $50 billion in pledged investments from global cloud providers. Surging AI and cloud adoption drove $61 billion in global data centre investments in 2025.
