Carter's names Maria Gemzell chief product officer
CRI•Carter's appointed Maria Gemzell chief product officer, effective early 2027. The company also announced several executive changes and began searching for a standalone chief operating officer.
1. Executive changes
Maria Gemzell will become chief product officer in early 2027 after overseeing strategic and new product initiatives at H&M. Allison Peterson becomes chief commercial officer, while Julie D'Emilio will retire and advise through year-end. Emily Evert adds global consumer insights and international oversight, and Sarah Crockett becomes chief brand officer.
2. Operations and retirement
Carter's began searching for a standalone chief operating officer to lead operational modernization and efficiency improvements. Chief Supply Chain Officer Karen Smith, who notified the company in February 2026, will retire in March 2027.
