Cathay General Q2 FY26 net income rises 19% to $92.2 million; net interest margin widens 21 basis points to 3.48%

Cathay General Bancorp posted Q2 net income of $92.2 million, up 19% year over year; diluted EPS rose to $1.37.
Net interest income before provision for credit losses climbed 10.9% to $200.9 million; net interest margin widened 21 basis points to 3.48%.
Non-interest income more than doubled to $21.4 million, driven by higher equity securities gains; it included a $10.6 million AFS securities sale loss.
Provision for credit losses was flat at $11.2 million; allowance for loan losses rose to $218.9 million, or 1.06% of total loans.
Total assets increased 1.7% to $24.65 billion since Dec. 31; deposits edged up 0.8% to $21.06 billion.
