Cboe Global Markets Reports 8.4% Multi-listed Options and 23% Index Options Growth
Cboe Global Markets’ average daily multi-listed options volume rose 8.4% year-over-year to 14.374 million contracts in April while index options ADV jumped 23% to 6.257 million contracts. Off-exchange U.S. equities ADV surged 75.7% to 220 million matched shares, and proprietary index options hit single-day records.

April average daily volume rose in key derivatives and mixed in equities. Multi-listed options ADV increased 8.4% year-over-year to 14.374 million contracts and index options ADV jumped 23% to 6.257 million contracts, while U.S. on-exchange equities ADV fell 20.8% to 1,677 million matched shares and off-exchange equities ADV surged 75.7% to 220 million shares.
2. Single-Day Trading Records
Proprietary index options and S&P 500 Index options set single-day records in April. Cboe’s proprietary index options traded 9.0 million contracts on April 14 and SPX options reached 6.7 million contracts on April 17, with mini-SPX and Global Trading Hours sessions posting their second-highest monthly ADV on record.
3. Segment Performance Breakdown
Futures and international equities saw mixed results. Futures ADV declined 28% year-over-year to 222,000 contracts, European equities fell 4.5% to €16.624 billion, Canadian equities rose 14.6% to 195.488 million matched shares and global FX volume declined 11.4% to $57.873 billion.
