Cboe, S&P Dow Jones Indices extend exclusive SPX options licensing agreement to 2051
CBOE•Cboe Global Markets extended its exclusive licensing agreement with S&P Dow Jones Indices for SPX options through 2051, securing its sole listing and trading rights for 25 years. SPX options recorded 970.6 million contracts in 2025, with average daily volume up 25% year over year to 3.9 million.

Cboe Global Markets extended its exclusive licensing agreement with S&P Dow Jones Indices for S&P 500 (SPX) options through 2051. The 25-year agreement gives Cboe sole rights to list and trade SPX options during that period.
2. Product development and volume
The parties also opened the door to joint product development beyond traditional index derivatives, including tokenized options contracts. SPX options reached record volume of 970.6 million contracts in 2025, while average daily volume rose 25% year over year to 3.9 million.
