CORN•Corn futures edge higher ahead of crop tour and USDA ratings
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures edged higher on Monday as traders awaited the outcome of the Pro Farmer field tour this week for further clues on corn and soybean yields after the USDA lowered its official yield forecasts last week.
- The market will also receive a pointer to field conditions from weekly U.S. Department of Agriculture crop ratings Monday afternoon.
- Farmers in Brazil's center-south had harvested 85% of their 2026 second corn crop as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday, up from 79% in the previous week but behind the 94% reported a year earlier.
- Heavy rain has caused flooding in parts of the U.S. Midwest, leading to concerns about the potential for crop disease and other damage.
- The most-active contract Cv1 rose 6-1/4 cents to $4.89-1/2 a bushel.
