CBOT soybeans drop on US harvest pressure, positioning ahead of USDA data
DBA•CBOT November soybean futures fell 10 cents to $12.87½ per bushel on Thursday as Midwest harvesting accelerated and traders adjusted positions ahead of Friday’s USDA report. Analysts expected the USDA to leave its national 2026 soybean yield estimate unchanged at 52.8 bushels per acre.
1. Harvesting pressures soybeans
CBOT soybean futures fell on Thursday as harvesting accelerated around the Midwest in mostly dry weather and traders squared positions ahead of the USDA’s monthly supply and demand report due Friday. The November contract closed 10 cents lower at $12.87½ per bushel.
2. USDA figures in focus
Analysts surveyed by Reuters expected the USDA to leave its national 2026 soybean yield estimate unchanged at 52.8 bushels per acre. The USDA reported US soybean export sales of 549,400 metric tons for the week ended October 1, toward the low end of trade expectations of 450,000 to 1.2 million tons. December soymeal fell $8.20 to $357.60 per ton, while December soyoil rose 0.24 cent to 67.92 cents per pound.
