CBOT grain and soybean futures seen higher at open
CHICAGO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - The following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Friday.
Wheat, corn and soybeans edge higher on short covering, exports and China demand
WHEAT - Up 4 to 6 cents
Short covering helped lift CBOT wheat Wv1 after prices touched a four-week low on Thursday.
Grain traders adjusted positions before the U.S. Department of Agriculture is scheduled to release crop reports on August 12.
The USDA is expected to peg 2026-27 U.S. wheat ending stocks at 715 million bushels, down from its July estimate of 722 million, according to a Reuters poll of analysts.
Traders monitored disruptions to grain shipments from the Black Sea region due to fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU26 was last up 5-1/4 cents at $6.36-1/2 per bushel. K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU26 was up 8-1/4 cents at $7.08 per bushel, and Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU26 was 5-3/4 cents higher at $6.76-3/4 per bushel.
CORN - Up 3 to 5 cents
CBOT corn Cv1 bounced after dropping on Thursday to the lowest level in about three weeks.
USDA on August 12 is expected to peg 2026-27 U.S. corn production at 15.934 billion bushels, down from its July estimate of 16 billion, and to trim its estimate of 2026-27 U.S. corn ending stocks to 1.725 billion bushels from 1.790 billion, analysts said.
Exporters sold 286,097 metric tons of U.S. corn to Mexico, with most for delivery in 2027-28, USDA confirmed in its daily reporting system.
CBOT December corn CZ26 was last up 4 cents at $4.66 per bushel.
SOYBEANS - Up 3 to 5 cents
CBOT soybeans Sv1 extended a recovery from a one-month low on Wednesday.
Chinese demand supported the market, after traders said on Thursday that China bought at least 10 more cargoes of U.S. soybeans on Wednesday.
USDA confirmed on Friday that exporters sold 238,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China.
USDA on August 12 is expected to peg 2026-27 U.S. soybean production at 4.472 billion bushels, compared to 4.475 billion in July, analysts said. The agency is expected to estimate 2026-27 U.S. soybean ending stocks at 304 million bushels, compared to 310 million in July.
CBOT November soybeans SX26 were last up 4 cents at $11.81-3/4 per bushel.
